Sixty-three percent of households in the U.S. have a garage. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to clean the garage floor properly.
With the accumulation of dirt from your vehicles and outdoor equipment, it’s important that you establish a process for cleaning the garage floor. It will depend, too, on the type of garage flooring you have.
Stick around for tips on how to clean the garage floor.
Concrete Flooring
Concrete is one of the best options for garage flooring, thanks to its durability. Its ability to resist stains is hard to match.
Regardless, you still need to take special care when learning how to clean this garage floor. For rust stains, use white vinegar or lemon. Wait five minutes before scrubbing it and cleansing it with water.

Polyurea Flooring
Epoxy floors are no longer the garage floor standard. Instead, we offer polyurea, which is 20 times as strong as epoxy floors. Polyurea is easier to install and resists moisture much better than epoxy floors.
When it’s time to tidy your garage, avoid soap-based cleaners. Opt instead for warm water and a mop when spot cleaning. For heavier spills, start with the mop and water before adding clear ammonia.
Garage Tiles
Like epoxy flooring, you can install garage tiles over most kinds of garage flooring. They’re durable in every type of weather condition and easy to install.
For surface-level dirt and dust, a dust mop or shop vac is your best bet. You could also try a broom with soft bristles.
If you have plastic polypropylene garage tiles and need to remove tougher spills or scuff marks, try ammonia. Use a rag or a deck brush with short bristles.
Need to know how to clean the garage floor for rubber garage tiles? After vacuuming, mix water with mild dish soap. Then scrub with a microfiber, sponge, or nylon mop.
Be careful not to add too much soap, or your garage floor will become slick or sticky.
Vinyl Flooring
Not only is vinyl flooring stylish and low-cost, but it’s easy to clean, too. Similar to rubber garage tiles, all you’ll need are soap, water, and a broom for light cleaning.
If you do come across staining, add apple cider vinegar to water and mop it up. Next, you’ll want to rinse with warm water. If this mixture still doesn’t get the job done, add a little dish soap to the apple cider vinegar.
For oil stains, pour cornstarch or baking soda as soon as possible. Wait 20 or 30 minutes before wiping it away with a sponge and dish soap.
